Scope of Works:
The A4130 Bix Dual Carriageway scheme was a major road improvement scheme, involving replacing and improving the existing failing drainage network, excavating the existing swallow hole and reinstating with free draining granular material, and resurfacing and reconstruction of the carriageways in both directions. C.Dowdy were commissioned to undertake the following works:

Enabling works including temporary surfacing for compound

Removal of existing road surface and kerblines

Removal of all redundant drainage and gullies and installation of new carrier / lateral drains, gullies and manhole covers

Installation of new kerblines and road crossings

Excavation and infill to existing shallow hole including all associated shuttering

Reinstatement of subsoil and replacement of topsoil once works completed
The scheme was carefully planned, utilising a number of road closures to minimise disruption to the general public, including opening a section of the A4130 to cars and light vehicles only for two-way traffic travelling in contra-flow.
